Cauldrons and sacred cups figure in many Celtic legends about magic and in folk tales. To drink from them or immersed in them was said to produce an altered state of awareness and illumination. Later in the Christian church it became a vessel reserved for blessing and/or the distribution of Eucharist wine at the Communion service. |
