The Scottish flag is the cross of St. Andrew, also known as the Sataire. It is thought to be the oldest national flag of any country dating back to the 12th century. The "Rampant Lion" or Royal Flag of Scotland, is based on a flag older than the St. Andrew's cross and though officially should only be used by the monarch as Queen of Scotland, it is widely used as a second national flag. |
